In what can be termed as a development step to curb the menace of cross border terrorism, the Indian Armed Forces commenced the ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, 2025, focusing on infrastuctural terror facilities located in Pakistan and Pakistan held Jammu & Kashmir (POJK). For quite some time now, Pakistan has been fueling terror activities post the Line Of Control (LOC) and on the LoC, the Indian Government has refrained from all out war foot response. This is what led the Indian Armed Forces to label the operation, “a precise, intelligence driven, counter terrorism mission.” The government targeted terror sensitive areas along the LOC and post the result set and achieved operational objectives followed within operational timelines.
Indo-Pak relationships have always been tense and have been relying on international hegemons since the 1940s. Due to the Fire Control Law, Indian has refrained from striking first, irrespective of operational feasibility. The war missile Doctrines enforced nuclear superpowers like us after the cold war forced India into a stationary gory of fires, waiting their chance to attack.

No Pakistani Military Installations Targeted
It seems that the Indian government sought to contain any diplomatic crisis by stating that no Pakistani military installations were targeted during the operation. The so-called strikes only pertained to non-state terror infrastructure which Indian agencies allegedly argued were meant to facilitate recent impositions in Jammu and Kashmir. This appears to be a careful maneuver intended for foreign audiences that India does not wish to escalate conflict with the Pakistani state, but mitigates a looming alarm.
A source in the Ministry of Defence disclosed that high-precision drone strikes, ground surveillance, and limited aerial sorties were used to take out identified terror launchpads and training camps. There had been heightened activity in these parts in the preceding weeks, including recruitment drives and movement of arms stealthy shifts.
Intelligence-Backed Precision Operation
Indian intelligence agencies like the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) as well as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) had been instrumental in the identification and verification of these terror camps. The military was aided with real time satellite images, captured telephone calls, and local whistleblowers.
Senior defense officials reported that Operation Sindoor has been executed as part of a new no other country in the world counter- terrorist strategy that has preemptive strikes. This aligns with other known military practices done by the country, such as the surgical strikes of 2016 and the Balakot airstrikes of 2019, all these retaliatory attacks were carried out due to incessant terrorism related violence coming from across the border.

Global and Regional Reactions
The global response during the initial stages has been mild and rather sympathetic. Some countries have gently stressed for both sides to withdraw from an aggressive posture while at the same time subtly acknowledging India’s exercise of self-defense. The United States, France, and Australia, who have previously branded LeT and JeM as terrorist organizations, restated that they continue to fight against terrorism in any shape or form.
Nevertheless, Pakistan responded vehemently to the strikes. The operation was disapproved by the Pakistani Foreign Office, who also summoned India’s representative to file a diplomatic grievance. An emergency session was held for Pakistan’s National Security Council during which Prime Minister Imran Khan gave a statement about reckless military adventurism.
Indian officials, in particular, have pointed out the existence of terror camps which Pakistan as a state has refused to acknowledge but sheds light on Pakistan’s protests and speculate about the abused fury to these as Pakistan hijacked his state, these officials indicating that those were virtually unattended for decades claiming shelter by portions of Pakistan’s power structure.
Moving Forward
Operation Sindoor strengthens India’s indignant attitude toward terrorism, showing further India has intensified its efforts to clamp down. A lot of experts deem that this operation, more than any other single move, placed India on a firm ground for unyielding aggression by the defense, and seize unmanned demolition range to indiscriminately support fire to restore order to sovereigns systems in discharge of unverified granted liberty for exercises.
Along with a broad perspective, the operation could reflect on the reality of the domestic policy for the electorate and showcase the government’s strict policy on the national security agenda with an overt dedicated to counterterrorism.

Conclusion
Operation Sindoor is a clear step highlight in India’s persistent operations against sponsoring terrorism directly linked to Pakistan. Striking non-state actors while steering clear of Pakistani military assets has allowed India to maintain delicate diplomatic relations and simultaneously retaliate with remarkable precision. The upcoming days will be critical for the Indian subcontinent to observe whether this action garners further provocation and escalates violence or effectively reduces terrorism, serving its intended purpose. At least one thing is clear, and that is India’s stance on this matter, that terrorism will be faced with strategic strikes, pinpoint accuracy, and relentless determination.
