India Legends Vs New Zealand Legends Match Postponed Due to Rain
Road Safety League is a newly formulated globally played Cricket League with the former cricketers of different nations playing cricket in a competitive T20 format.
For the second time in a row, the Road Safety World Series match has been called off due to the interruption of rain. The match was scheduled to be played at the Holkar stadium of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday.
The last match of India Legends was also cancelled due to rain at Green Park stadium in Kanpur, and now they have also been plagued by the rain Gods in Indore.
The Toss:
The New Zealand Team, led by Captain Ross Taylor, won the toss and decided to send their opponent team India Legends, to bat first as they won their last match against Bangladesh batting second. The two openers are Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha. The Kiwi bowling attack was initiated first with the first over of Kylie Mills.
Early Scenario of the called-off match:
The match was about to commence at 7:30 pm on Monday. Before the postponement was called off, merely 5.5 overs of the match was attainable to play. During this time, Sachin Tendulkar played a few fantastic shots as he could play 13 balls on the crease. Team India Legends scored 49 runs after losing 1 wicket in 5.5 overs. Then the rain started pouring and filled the field with water.
Early matches of the two teams
After playing two matches in the Road Safety World Series, New Zealand Legends couldn’t manage to win their first match against Sri Lanka. But, they hammered Bangladesh Legends by bouncing back and bore the match with a victory of eight wickets. The skipper Ross Taylor scored 30runs in 17 balls in the second match against Bangladesh and contributed to their swift win over Bangladesh.
India Legends skipper Sachin Tendulkar had scored 16 outings in the first game against South Africa, but Stuart Binny stole the light with a blazing score of 82.
The position of the two teams:
India Legends are now in the third position at the top of the points table in the tournament, preceded by Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
On the points table, the New Zealand legends were above only the two teams, England Legends and Bangladesh Legends.
Fans’ reaction:
Fans gathered at the stadium with high hopes for the support of their favorite team. Many fans blamed the rain as the culprit for pouring water on their hope. They hardly managed to watch only 12.5 % of the entire match. A group of sad fans expressed their grief, saying they arrived at the stadium overcoming many hurdles, but they could not fully see their favorite childhood cricket stars perform on the field. The cats and dogs raining saddened the fans. But the fan of Indian Legends is thankful for the bad weather of yesterday due to its advent at the Holkar Stadium. The team of India Legends was able to rob important points in the league stage as the previous match in Kanpur was also cancelled due to the intervention of rain.
